It’s good to be a woman this Spring season. Designers have taken special care to create sexy, chic footwear for the everyday woman. Boots detailed with lace, ribbons, velvet and bows, sky high stilettos and peek-a-boo cutouts – it’s all in a woman’s dream. An impressive tribute to femininity, these boots are simply divine. Here’s a look at some of the sexiest, classiest boots for us fashionista’s to sport this Spring.

Sophisticated Lace-up: A nod to older days of feminine styling, this lace-up ankle bootie has a very chic and classic look. The tassle at the toe adds a nice touch to finish off the look.

Lovely Lace: This lacey ankle boot has the perfect amount of sexiness without going overboard. The lace detail has a very ladylike style and the bow at the top is the perfect accessory.

Romantic Ruffles: The bold blue color is beautiful, but the addition of the ruffles just adds that extra flair of feminism.

Racy Ribbons: The laced-down ribbon detail on this knee high boot is both sexy and chic. It’s finished off with a small bow at the bottom, making it a playful addition to the boot.

Sheer Genius: A sexy peek-a-boo sheer bootie that leaves little to the imagination, but still maintains a sophisticated style.

Some of the coolest trends are so short-lived that we blink and in a flash, it’s gone; then, we’re left pining after the next “it” style to trial. So, it’s quite refreshing when trends overlap collection seasons lasting longer than their normal 15 minutes of fame. For those of us who love to be on-trend, but just don’t have the time to keep up with the Joneses on an everyday basis, stick with some of the basic wardrobe essentials. And this season the over-the-knee boot is the boot trend to try. The designs this fall are all about variations to the over-the-knee style. Wedge, sky high heel, flats, riding boots, each option is just as versatile as the next. The key to keeping this style chic and not overtly sexy is to know how to wear your boots. The flat OTK is great for daytime looks (i.e. running errands), pair it with a great pair of denim, an oversized cable knit cardigan and fitted tee. If you need to get slightly dressed up, but still want to keep that casual and cool theme, opt for the wedge OTK boot. Wear it with a fitted blazer, print tee and printed scarf. The height on the wedge and the rocker chic look gives you that edgier style, without looking like you’re trying to hard. To get that bohemian chic look, grab your over-the-knee riding boots and mix it with a fur vest, gypsy tunic and leggings. And if you really want to dress up your boots, the sky high OTK stiletto looks best with a pair of skinny jeans or short dress. Word of caution, because these high heel boots are so over-the-top sexy, make sure that your attire doesn’t match that same sentiment. Keep it simple and make sure that you don’t show too much skin. The over-the-knee boot is your statement piece, so let them really shine!

Nothing goes better with a pair of over-the-knee boots than a great pair of leggings.

Nothing excites me more for the upcoming Fall/Winter season than a great pair of boots. Thankfully for us footwear obsessed fashionistas, designers this season are pulling out all the stops. From military inspired to sexy lace-ups, ankle booties to over-the-knee, the perfect transition from the dog days of summer into the blistery cold months of winter is to sink your toes into this season’s must haves.

Fall Boot Trend One

A Heroine in Footwear: The ankle bootie. It’s part shoe, part boot and part well, frankly, superpower. It can dress up or dress down any outfit and can be worn with a sexy dress, skinny jeans, a mini skirt or simply under leggings. Versatile, sexy and sophisticated, the hybrid shoe boot this season is definitely your new superhero. Cape not included.

Fall Boot Trend Two

The Bee’s Knees: It’s no wonder why the return of the over-the-knee boot is welcomed back with open arms. Last season, it was a trend that could transform the ordinary go-to outfit into extraordinary by simply slipping on these outrageously sexy and chic boots. This time around, designers were careful not to repeat the exact same styling of last Fall season, so they updated the new “it” boots by playing with height, texture and details. Whatever style of the OTK boot you choose this season, just make sure to include these in your repertoire and you’ll be more than happy with the results.

Fall Boot Trend Three

Luck be a Lady: Designers have a sweet spot for us fashionistas; and nothing says it more than the intricate attention to detail they assumed when designing the A/W collections. This season’s boot has turned into the ultimate ladylike accessory. Details like lace, velvet, rosettes, ribbons, bows, floral printing and sexy cutouts pay tribute to decades of feminine styling by capturing the essence of female sex appeal and ladylike grace. Looks like the odds are in our favor.

Fall Boot Trend Four

A Masculine Overhaul: The lines have been blurred, the laces have been tied and heels have been stripped. Designs that used to be strictly for men have sunk its teeth into women’s boots come Fall. The lace up workman’s boot and motorcycle boot reigned supreme on the runway. If you’re daring enough to try a slightly more androgynous look, these flat boots will certainly keep you stylish and chic. Don’t like the overtly masculine look? Opt for a more feminine touch with a sky high stiletto.

Fall Boot Trend Five

All Laced-up and Nowhere to go?: In the old days, a lace-up boot was tucked safely under a billowing layered skirt, never to be seen. It’s hard to believe anyone would want to hide a sexy silhouette, beloved Victorian, vintage vibe accompanied with a ladylike heel. So, designers this season decided to revive a once forgotten favorite and made it one of the hottest trends for Fall. Gone are the days of concealing footwear, flaunt those lace boots all over town and you’ll quickly be the envy of every fashionista out there.

Fall Boot Trend Six

Bring out your Inner Animal: The concentration this season seems to be defining the details in boots that curb your animal cravings: fur-lined boots, pony hair detail, shearling trim, rabbit fur and goat hair fringe all inject a certain sexy bohemian style while keeping you warm during the blistery winter months. It’s officially time to unleash your inner animal instinct.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say I’m not the only one whose frustration intensifies when I see pictures of celebs traipsing around in killer heels (and when I say “killer,” it’s in a literal way). How do they do it? I’ve narrowed it down to three explanations:

Their heels are photo shopped in

The pics are snapped during their only few strides of the day

They are willing to endure the pain in the name of their careers

Well we can’t all have the luxury of door-to-door service, so we usually wind up opting for function over fashion, right? I particularly empathize with those that live in snowy areas (like mine). I mean, come on, Uggs or galoshes? Gimme a break! If I sound bitter it’s because I am. Grrrr.

While fashion and comfort might be direct contradictions, at least SOMEONE in the industry is ready to meet the needs of every day women. Cole Haan pleeeeeeeeeeease get your fashion colleagues to follow your lead! The Yarmouth, Maine-based brand has recently collaborated with sneaker-giant Nike to create (drum roll)…a comfy heal! Hallelujah! These shoes, retailing around $328, combine Nike Air technology with Cole Haan’s aesthetic. Interestingly enough, CH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nike (learn something new every day).

If you can’t afford a pair of Cole Haans, there are other tricks of the trade that allow us rock a heel without the pain. Follow these rules-of-thumb and get the best of both worlds: style and comfort:

Blissfully Painless

Ankle boots

Wedge heels

Chunky heel

Wretchedly Painful

Stilettos

Platforms

Strappy

Okay, okay, I TRY to stick with these most of the time but sometimes reason and will power are low. Next thing you know, you’re caving (like when I bought those patent-leather, nude stilettos I can barely walk in). Stay strong and sensible! My favorite Italian shoes for women and boot obsessions.

The proverb says you have to walk a mile in another man’s shoes to truly understand him. Our shoes have been with us through all of our journeys, whether as a source of comfort or of pain, symbolic of where we have been and where we are going. So it is no wonder that for women our shoes are so much more than utilitarian, they are an expression of who we are. Having come so far to claim our place as more than simply barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, our shoes are representative of the path we have come by–strong yet sleek, sexy, and sophisticated–with a design demanding of a skill and grace to effortlessly endure what few men could walk a few steps in, let alone a mile.

There is something reliable about a shoe. When you first try it on, it’s either a fit or not, but you are spared the indignity of those three way mirrors that dramatize the lasting evidence of your dietary indiscretions. You walk away with a true companion that, even on your “fat days,” with the right attitude and a little strut, can make you feel sexy. Though some women remain faithful to the long lines that stilettos lend to their legs, others are overjoyed by the recent craze of the wedge and ballerina flats, which now allow us to be both stylish and admittedly more comfortable. Whether it’s for the perfect business attire, a day of shopping, or a night out on the town, selecting the perfect shoe is all about expressing yourself and finding what makes you feel your best, transcending a mere accessory into something far greater. Here are some of our favorite shoes for the Journey of Life.

Try on a pair of your typical department store jeans ($30-80 price range). Then sit down. How they look and feel while sitting may be completely different. Now, try on a pair of designer jeans. You get what you pay for. The cheaper jeans will feel like burlap in comparison. They’re painful when you squat/sit down digging into your waist and back of the knees. Designer’s new styles blend fabrics with a small percentage of stretch. The mix of soft material and stretch allows the jeans to move with you and contour to your body. Some words of warning, once you go designer, there’s no going back.
